MINING DAY @MARINA PARK, THUNDER BAY

June 14, 2025, 10th Anniversary of Mining Day, was a beautiful day in the mid 20s. Hundreds of people flocked to take in the exhibits, grab some eats, and watch their kids having a great time.

Geese grazed on the manicured lawns, far beyond the din, and the Federal Dee (or it might have been the Belasitza) anchored in the Bay.

At 1:30 p.m., every parking space was filled. I parked downtown and walked over the pedestrian bridge, along with others.

Some of the activities were in the open air; others in shady tents. In this exhibit, clearly labeled, were specimens of local rocks such as amethyst and gold ore.

I was particularly interested in this specimen from Greenstone, where the gold mine is going full tilt. I wonder how many Greenstonians have even seen a piece of the ore that is filling the coffers of the company with millions of dollars every month.

I passed by every booth, and sometimes paused to pick up useful stuff such as an amethyst worry rock and, above all, information.
